Development Economist by profession with over ten years’ experience in policy-oriented research addressing challenges and drivers to business growth, institutional building and poverty reduction. Has extensive experience in dealing with clients and partners in local, regional, national and international organisations involved in research as sponsors, commissioners and users such as the European Social Fund, Barclays Bank, the World Bank and UNDP. A founding member and co-ordinator of the Sudan Research Group. In this capacity, organised three international workshops on post-conflict Sudan. The workshops were sponsored by the World Bank, UNDP and Christian Aid. A resource person for the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) training and collaborative PhD programme in Africa. Act as an external examiner for the AERC Collaborative MSc in Agricultural and Applied Economics. Published a number of articles in leading economics Journals and have substantive experience in supervising PhD students. Currently leading a project funded by Barclays bank on informal financial systems in 11 African countries.
