The Observatory On Regional Integration intends to help fulfill the needs of a platform to provide holistic information and knowledge about Africa’s integration agenda and processes so as to provide a means by which stakeholders can probe and scrutinize what transpires within regional economic commissions (RECs) and institutions of regional integration, and thus facilitate the popularization and democratization of the integration process.
The observatory thus strengthens the process of harmonization of programs among RECs, enhances the participation of civil society and all stakeholders in Africa’s integration process, and promotes accountability of member States and their regional institutions, in particular RECs, in the fulfillment of integration objectives. It promotes a multi-stakeholder dialogue and interaction, between the RECs themselves on one hand, and among other institutions in the integration arena, on the other.
