Knowledge Management Officer and Focal Program Management Officer of the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa at the Sub-Regional Office for West Africa (ECA/SRO-WA)
He is a National Professional Officer with areas of expertise in program coordination, program activities review, evaluation and monitoring, supervision of surveys, data collection, quantitative and qualitative analysis, applied statistics and information management, microfinance, program, and projects management.
He is a former member of the International Association of Survey Statisticians (IASS, 1995-2001), a member of the GRETAF-CI Unit, 1997-1998: "Groupe d'Etude sur l'Education en Afrique- Côte d'Ivoire", and member of the RenSE, Nigerien's Monitoring and Evaluation Network 2002-2012. Other scopes of work include survey research in the fields of education, knowledge, attitude and the practices of family planning in Côte d’Ivoire.
Before joining ECA, he has served in the Program Coordination Unit of UNICEF, Niger, from 2001 to 2011 and has controlled that Office's Program Budget Allotments for many years; working directly with the Deputy Representative. For a while, he served at Fiduciaire, Conseil et Audit (Accounting expertise/FCA- Niger), has intervened as Administrative Officer for the World Vision Area Development Program of Tera, Niger, in 1999, and has also occupied the position of a Mission Officer and Consultant on a tripartite program for the Ivorian Government, ENSEA (Ecole Nationale Superieure de Statistique et d'Economie Appliquee d'Abidjan-RCI) and the World Bank, in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, from 1996 to 1998. He started his career as Research Fellow at the ENSEA-ORSTOM Research Unit on Demographic issues in 1995, before he defended his final paper and graduated with an Engineering Degree in Statistics, got the "Diplôme d’Ingénieur des Travaux Statistiques" from "Ecole Nationale Superieure de Statistique et d'Economie Appliquee" in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
Mr. DENIS AKOCHAYE holds an MA (DEA equivalent, BAC+6) in Microfinance from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, ULB, Belgium; and another MSc. (DESS/M.A. II equivalent/BAC+5) in Project Management from the University of Littoral Côte d'Opale, in Dunkerque, France. He also olds a Certificate of continuous training of the “Programme de formation en fecondite et sante de la reproduction”, awarded by the Institute of Demography, Universite Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in collaboration with the “Institut de formation et de recherche demographiques- IFORD” and the “Centre Population et Development-CEPED de Paris”. He has a Certificate of the “Sampling Program for Survey Statisticians (SPSS) in Survey Research Techniques awarded by the Institute for Social Research (ISR), University of Michigan, USA.
