Anthony Mongameli Mehlwana is an Economic Affairs Officer in the Energy Infrastructure & Services Section at the Private Sector Development & Finance Division. He is is responsible for clean energy infrastructure and its role in industrializing Africa. He has led a number initiatives over the last years. These initiatives are in the areas of clean energy development, project finance, project development and training. He has worked in partnership with African Union Commission, the NEPAD Policy and Coordinating Agency, Regional Economic Commissions (RECs) and numerous African and international institutions. Mr. Mehlwana has wide experience in the energy field since 1995. The notable institutions he has worked for include the Energy and Development Research Centre (now Energy Research Centre) at the University of Cape Town, the Minerals and Energy Policy Centre and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Council. In these institutions he has worked as a senior researcher and programme manager. Monga has written numerous conference papers, position papers, chapters in books, as well as co-authored several publications. He was a Lead Author of the Nobel Peace Award (2007) winning IPCC team on Climate Change Mitigation. Mr. Mehlwana holds a M.A. in social sciences from the University of Cape Town, South Africa.
